Alongside this week’s #TransmogTuesday I wanted to share with you my favourite Raid Tiers. I’ve been raiding since the start of the game, and have seen loads of tiers come and go now. One of the reasons I love transmoging is that it means old raid tiers are no longer useless, or forgotten. Sure, re-grinding them is a pain but it’s so worth it in the end! Here is my favourite raid tier for each class in the game, excluding Demon Hunters because they only have one tier (and one coming in a week) right now.

Once again, thank you to Wowhead dressing room for helping out because my Wow Model Viewer has issues, including a strong dislike for Pandarens 🙁

Death Knight Tier 10 - Sanctified Scourgelord's Plate

Death Knight

Tier 10 – Sanctified Scourgelord’s Plate

I was torn between this version (blue) and the purple version because both look great. There’s something about this tier that screams Death Knight to me more than any other. I really love the Death Knight starting area set and this one has the similar feel. I just can’t really see Death Knight’s in other colours, and prefer to stick to the cool shades of blue and purple.

Druid Tier 5 - Nordrassil Rainment

Druid

Tier 5 – Nordrassil Rainment

This was such a hard choice to make! There are so many gorgeous druid tiers, and even the one’s that aren’t quite so beautiful are still exquisite. I just love the shoulders and head piece of this one though, and combined with the green and brown earthy tones I feel it really captures the feeling of a druid.

Hunter Tier 19 - Eagletalon Battlegear

Hunter

Tier 19 – Eagletalon Battlegear

I was browsing through the hunter raid tiers from 1-20, trying to decide on one that jumped out and grabbed my attention above all others. It was only when I got to the most recent Tier, 19, and saw this set that I found that special one. I’d not seen this set yet and I love the mesmerising gold and green, as well as the details in the hood and shoulders. It reminds me a lot of my current wallpaper of Alleria Windrunner from Hearthstone.

Tier 5 - Tirisfal Regalia

Mage

Tier 5 – Tirisfal Regalia

It was a close call between this one and Tier 18 Raiment of the Arcanic Conclave. I think that it is pure nostalgia with this set, along with the traditional red colouring and details on the robe and hood. It also helps that I love the look of these types of hoods on my Night Elf Mage 😀 This one in particular makes her look so powerful and mysterious.

Monk Tier 20 - Xuen's Battlegear

Monk

Tier 20 – Xuen’s Battlegear

Ok, so I totally cheated for this one. I was good with all the others! This set is not out for another week or so when Tomb of Sargeras opens, but just look at it… it’s so pretty! I love the contrasting colours of yellow and purple, and just the whole style of it screams Pandaren monk to me.

Paladin Tier 2 - Judgement Armour

Paladin

Tier 2 – Judgement Armour

Hands up who guessed this one correctly? I honestly don’t know many people who don’t count this as one of their favourite Paladin tiers, or tiers full stop. There’s just something so powerful about it, and yet, looking at the vibrant colours it shouldn’t work. It should feel too brazen, too overpowering and instead it just works. There’s so much careful detail worked into this design that the more you look at it the more you notice.

Priest Tier 3 - Vestments of Faith

Priest

Tier 3 – Vestments of Faith

I’m very fortunate that my main character for many expansions now has been a priest and has had some absolutely gorgeous sets ( for the most part anyway, we won’t talk about the green nipple one …). However, unlike the Druid tiers this choice wasn’t hard. Tier 3 is the top of the list for me and of course, it’s the only one you can’t farm. I’m really glad that it is possible to get it again even if it is from the Black Market Auction house and will eventually cost me an arm and a leg. One day it will be mine! For now, I at least have loads of other gorgeous tier sets I can use to feel the void.

Rogue Tier 9 - VanCleef's Battlegear

Rogue

Tier 9 – VanCleef’s Battlegear

This was a difficult one for me to pick and not because there were so many I liked. Quite the opposite in fact! I very rarely play my rogue so don’t have much of a feel for her or the class, and aesthetically most rogue sets just don’t appeal to me. This one has a touch of elegance, a beautiful corset with stunning gold details on a lovely blue.

Shaman Tier 6 - Skyshatter Regalia

Shaman

Tier 6 – Skyshatter Regalia

So, I’ve noticed two things when it comes to Shaman Tiers. There’s an awful lot I don’t like, and most of the ones I do like are blue! This wasn’t an easy choice, and I’m kinda glad I haven’t raided as a shaman (sorry shaman’s!).

Warlock Tier 12 - Balespider's Burning Vestments

Warlock

Tier 12  – Balespider’s Burning Vestments

I have to admit, Blizzard did a good job with the fire theme for this tier. However, for most sets it just feels so over the top and over done. I like that this one is more subtle, there’s some fire and there’s the spider homage to one of the bosses. The webbing details on all the pieces stands out and the whole set just has a great effect.

Warrior Tier 10 - Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Battlegear

Warrior

Tier 10 – Sanctified Ymirjar Lord’s Battlegear

I found it hard to distinguish between the warrior tiers, after a while they all sort of look the same to me – I’m sure plate users will say the same about cloth robes! This one stood out in two ways; the runic details and the helm. There’s just something very unique, and I like the ancient vykrul vibe.

I actually found that easier than I expected. There were a few classes that proved difficult because there were so many I liked, however, in the classes I play less it was either really hard to connect with them or only one or two actually stood out.

How about you? Could you choose just 1 tier for your class? Do you find that certain tiers you prefer over others – for example, I am drawn to tiers 2, 3 and 5 a lot.

Introduction

Every Tuesday is #TransmogTuesday and I’ll be posting with a new creation. My main is a discipline priest called Kaelea, so I do tend to edge towards cloth transmogs more than anything else. The aim of this project is to push my own boundaries, to get creative and work on some themes and ideas I’d normally not consider. That means I’m open to suggestions! Themes, colours, a transmog set around a particular item? Let me know 🙂

You can see my pre-existing work over at Wowhead where I’ll also be uploaded any and all sets.

This Weeks Sets

My Current Transmog Sets

It’s a super special bumper edition this week to fit in with my WoW Themed posts. You’re not getting just one, but uh.. 12? sets! One per each of my active characters. Sorry hordies, I only have active Alliance characters, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them! Each set is on wowhead, and due to the amount of sets in one post I will just be posting links directly to those sets rather than linking each item as usual. Most are sets I have made up myself, a few are using a full raid or pvp tier because that is my current favourite. As these were made specifically for these characters they also contain a lot of class specific items; if you’d like a non-class specific version let me know in the comments and I’ll see if it’s doable!

Thanks to the WoWhead dressing room for stepping in to help when technical issues couldn’t be avoided!

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments, and as always any requests for future sets! Please also take the time to rate a set on wowhead if you like it 🙂

Anyone who knows me knows I love animals and my fondness for living creatures has transferred to battle pets! I’ve already talked about my favourite pets for battles, so this time I’ll be talking about my favourites in terms of themes and aesthetics! I have 798 unique battle pets, and that’s just the ones I actually own personally. Whittling it down to just 10 was a challenge, and there are plenty more that deserve a spot on this list. I started to put them in a ranking, and yeah, it was just impossible. So here are my top favourite battle pets in no specific order.

You can view my full pet collection over at WarcraftPets.com!

Baby Elderhorn

Sam

With it’s big blue eyes this pet is certainly likeable, however, it’s the animation that made me fall in love with it. It’s so adorable and cute when it frolicks that I had to make a gif for you to see!Baby Elderhorn Pet Animation

Battle Pets: Xu-Fu

Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen

Byakko

Essentially this pet is just a mini version of the Celestial Xuen from the Mists of Pandaria expansion – and I’m ok with that! All of the Celestials are absolutely stunning, but it’s Xu-Fu that captured my heart. His colours are just so beautiful and he’s a pretty handy battle pet too, so I have a great excuse to look upon his beauty whenever I want!

Battle Pets: Thundering Pandaren Serpent

Thundering Serpent Hatchling

Raijin

I was fortunate enough to get a nice guild let me join for a few moments to nab this from their guild vendor at the end of Mists of Pandaria. I’m really glad I did because he’s such a sweet and gorgeous looking guy. I couldn’t get his lightning to show up, but you can see it here.

Battle Pets: Sunfur Panda

Sunfur Panda

Brigit

All the red panda pets are adorable, but it’s the colouring of the Sunfur one that really stands out to me. I just love her cute little markings and the colours of her fur.

Battle Pets: Little Black Ram

Little Black Ram

Cherti

There is nothing special about this pet at all, apart from I find it so damn adorable! The first time I saw them wondering around outdoors I fell in love.

Battle Pets: Nightsaber Cub

Nightsaber Cub

Az

This little guy is the exception to my pet naming rule (see bottom of this post). Chris bought him for me (he’s a Trading Card pet) at the same time we found out that our first cat together had passed away. We were both absolutely devastated and I can’t remember which of us suggested naming this cub Az, but it was fitting. So this pet is forever dedicated to our crazy wild tabby tom cat, Azreil aka Az.

Battle Pets: Lurking Owl Kitten

Lurking Owl Kitten

Currently Unnamed!

The first thing I said when I saw the Owl Cats was ‘I NEED ONE!’, so imagine how happy I was when I finished the quest chain and got this little dude! I’m really sad that I don’t play Feral on my druid because I love the owl cat form. I just wish we had more colour varieties of this pet.

Battle Pets: Cenarion Hippogrph Hatchling

Cenarion Hatchling

Steelfeather

Pretty sure I wrote about this little guy when I was talking about geeky tattoos for a 5FF prompt. I remember the first time I saw a hyppogryph hatchling in Wrath of the Lich King, and I fell head over heels for the cute little babies! I’m so glad there’s a shop version, as I’ve not managed to get hold of the TCG one yet.

Battle Pets: Moonkin HatchlingMoonkin Hatchling

Eluune

I love moonkins, so how could I not love this ultra cute baby version?! Especially when they dance and fly just like a real moonkin! I’m just totally in love with this pet and wish there were more colours to reflect the other druids now.

Battle Pets: Mini TyraelMini Tyrael

Castiel

Probably one of (if not the) rarest battle pets you can get, this little guy was in the goody bag for the one-off EU blizzcon (it was called the World Wide Invitational, but it was pretty much blizzcon not just tournaments). He is beautiful, he has an awesome animation when /dance with him and he reminds me of an awesome event I will always feel privileged to have been to. It’s a treasured memory with my fiancé about a year into our relationship 🙂

Bonus fun: I try to name my pets, and all of these (with the exception of the poor unnamed lurking owl kitten) have been given names relating to fandom and mythology. Can you match each of them to a fandom or pantheon?

I’ve been meaning to add a small introduction story to my World of Warcraft characters list and this week’s World of Warcraft theme seemed like an idea time to do it! You’ll notice that some stories are longer than others, especially that of Kaelea who is my main character and therefore, her story is the clearest in my mind.

Credit Notice

All graphics and writing in this blog post are the creative property of me, Heather, and may not be reused in any way. These are the personal stories of my characters, written for entertainment.

Kaelea, Discipline Priest

From a young age Kaelea showed a talent for both light and shadow, and when she came of age she was chosen to study at the Cathederal of Light in Stormwind. As a Stormwind native, she was eager to develop her talents to find a way to help the city she loved. However, despite her early progress it became pretty clear that her abilities only went so far. While she was adept with both shadow and light, that was as far as it went. She could never quite master one nor the other like other novices were doing.

It was only a chance meeting with a grumpy old dwarf, that led Kaelea down a path that would redefine her life; Discipline. There was a growing group of Priests who were much like her, a talent for both shadow and light and yet never reaching a degree of mastery. They had developed the path known as Discipline, a form of study that followed the principle belief that light always casts a shadow. This realisation combined with dedicated training allowed priests to use both light and shadow to serve others. It was  a path that required great strength of will and discipline, and as such Kaelea was a strong candidate for training.

As the years went by Kaelea would grow into a capable young woman, known for championing many causes and never staying still. Gone was the young girl who wanted nothing more than to stay in her home city and help those in need. She had learned through experience and combat that there was bigger things to be done – and that it took a certain type of person to get them done. Kaelea was never meant to be a city healer offering sanctuary and alms to the poor, she was a combat healer and a good one at that. She learned from each experience, gathering knowledge wherever she went and from any new allies she made. As a result she learned how to bend the light to her will, using it to smite her enemies in defence while healing her allies.

Never one to let her achievements go to her head, Kaelea has always believed that she is simply someone who has the skills and the strength needed to fight the battles. She was also never going to be one for sticking by the rules, and tends to follow her head rather than her heart at times. Her natural empathy has caused her to jump into many a fight that wasn’t her own, but it was Garrosh Hellscream’s destruction of Netherguard Keep that struck closest to home. A childhood friend, a one time young love, who had found his calling in the Blasted Lands had lost his life in the attack that devastated the Keep. It was the one time that Kaelea felt truly lost, falling from her path of careful discipline with seething rage. Without the support and care of her friends and lover, Dagan, a Death Knight, she may have lost her way forever.

Now the Legion is back, and Kaelea is still somewhat mystified to find herself a High Priest uniting all the paths of priesthood across the land. The keeper of the tempestuous Light’s Wrath, she wields it with care, precision and an understanding that it’s time to finish the fight with the Legion once and for all.

Aleassa, Balance Druid

Unlike her friends and family, Aleassa had never been certain of her place in Night Elf society. She was not a warrior, she had no relationship with the light, and her skill with a hunter’s bow was appalling. It was only when Malfurion came looking for apprentices to study Druidism that Aleassa felt the call. Nature had always called to her, but not quite the same way as it had for her hunters who held mastery over beasts. No, it was the world around her; the plants and trees, the creatures and the wind that whispered to her as it drifted through the trees.

Time moves differently for a long lived race, and Aleassa’s still considers herself to be a student to this day. Despite her many achievements, she believes that she will always be learning and spent many years dedicating herself to lore and teaching others. She, like many, had lost so many loved ones during the war with the Burning Legion. As Night Elves struggled to come to terms with their new found mortality she found solace in teaching others, helping them to heal and find their way. Yet there was something missing. Aleassa couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more out there for her. While she could shapeshift into the forms of cat and bear, and could heal when needed, none of them felt like her true form.

She would end up roaming, travelling, offering her help and knowledge where she could. While Aleassa was beginning to feel even more helpless and lost, the Goddess Elune never lost sight of the young druid. She would guide her to a group calling themselves the Druids of the Moon, and there, Aleassa would finally find her true form; the Moonkin.

Layla, Vengeance Demon Hunter

Born into a family known for it’s dedication to the Temple of Elune, and never being that way inclined, Layla was never destined to have an easy time. Though she did her best to please her family, and to fit in with their grand history of serving Elune she joined the Temple Guard. During the War of the Ancients Layla was left alone and heartbroken as she watched her family fall at the hands of the Legion, their precious light and Goddess abandoning them to painful deaths. When word reached her that Illidan Stormrage was seeking followers and offering a way to defeat the Legion, Layla was quick to desert her duties and find him.

Alongside many other hopefuls, Layla underwent the gruelling training and rituals to become a Demon Hunter. She sacrificed everything she had, and more, for the power to avenge her family and her people. With demon blood coursing through her veins she felt power like never before, and vowed that she would never give in to her inner demon. Returning triumph with her fellow demon hunters, Layla wound find herself facing The Wardens and Thousands of years of imprisonment in the Vault of the Wardens.

Now once again free, Layla is appalled to see that the Legion is once again destroying the world she vowed to fight for when she became a demon hunter. She has thrown herself head first into the battle, ready to do whatever needs doing to avenge her family once and for all.

Thaelynn, Fire Mage

A relatively young Night Elf, Thaelynn was born to a family of great Highborne mages that had been practising long before the War of the Ancients. The events of the war and the treachery of some of the Highborne led her family to vanish into hiding. It would be several generations later that Thaelynn would be born, unknowing of her family’s past and powerful heritage with the arcane. While the rest of her family led simple lives deep in the forests of Ashenvale, Thaelynn always had a fascination with, well, everything. She had to know how everything worked, why everything was that way and not another way. As a child she got under many feet and pestered many adults with questions. The elder ones were happy to tell her stories, including of times long past filled with battles and magic.

Most of the village children grew up, forgot the stories and dreamed of mundane things like getting the days chores done. Thaelynn never forgot, and maybe it was her constant wishing for magic to be real that lit the flame of magic inside her. Or maybe it was just long forgotten magic being rekindled. It started small at first; a puff of smoke, hands becoming warm during the cold winter nights. Enough that the teenager thought she was imagining it at first. It wasn’t long before something caught on fire, alerting her parents to what was happening to their daughter.

Since the War of the Ancients night elves had avoided magic, forbidding anyone to study it. Fire was a destructive force, most certainly not druidic or holy in nature. Frantically her parents forbid her from practising her powers, and told her to ignore them, they would just go away if she didn’t give into them. The more she tried, the harder it got, and the more stressed Thaelynn got the worse her control became. Someone was watching out for the young night elf though, and contacted an old former-highborne mage who was living the rest of their life out in solitude. The mage refused to train Thaelynn, not wishing to draw attention to herself or to be responsible for reintroducing magic to the kaldorei. However, after witnessing the violent nature of her growing powers, the elder mage helped Thaelynn gain control of her abilities.

Life went smoothly for the young night elf after that, with her life settling into the same normal uneventful rhythm of her siblings – much to her parents relief. Then came the news that Mordent Evenshade had approached the High Priestess, and the highborne had been accepted back into night elf society. It was news that set many tongues wagging, especially when it became known that they were to train new adepts in the ways of magic and the arcane. For years Thaelynn had lived as a ghost, floating from one errand to another, keeping her powers locked away inside herself and never being allowed to explore her true self. She had never looked for love, never wanted to start a family of her own like her brothers and sisters. When the news reached her something snapped and she left her home with a hastily written note to her family.

For some time now Thaelynn has been dedicating her time to the study of magic and the arcane, making up for all the lost time and finally letting her power free. She is well on her way to becoming one of the youngest Archmagi of the new generation of kaldorei magi.

Frostya, Frost Death Night

The former druid, Lothiriel, was one of the many killed fighting alongside the Argent Crusade and raised to become one of the legendary death knights. After gaining her freedom from the Lich King’s sway, Frostya was one of those left staggered by the horrors she had committed. After being one with life and nature, to one with death, she did not know how to live being completely cut off from nature. She left the rest of the death knights and headed for the forests of Ashenvale, becoming a recluse and determined not to use her powers of death.

It was only a chance meeting with a young night elf and a group of the Scarlet Crusade that led to Lothiriel realising she could still do good as a death knight. As Deathwing broke free from the earth, setting off the Cataclysm, Lothiriel felt it. For the first time since her death she could feel the world around her. While she would never gain the strength of her old connection as a druid, it was enough of a tether to reality to bring her back from the brink. Rejoining the Knights of the Ebon Blade, she took the name Frostya and set about helping a world that had been torn apart.

You can read the full story of Lothiriel’s run in with the Scarlet Crusade here.

Born to a family of warriors known for their tempers, Tempestia is aptly named despite looking as cute as a button. It is an image she has worked hard to shatter, but with age came a realisation; she could use her looks to her advantage. As a result she fell in with a group of mercenaries and began to use her innocent looks to her advantage. Now she works as a freelancer, specialising in under cover work and still gets a thrill from pulling the wool over people’s eyes.

The way of the monk called to Takeko in her youth, and she had dedicated herself to becoming an adept of all paths. While others prefer to specialise in one particular skill set, Takeko prefers to have on hand all the skills she needs to be most effective in helping those in need. She has a big heart and can always be found helping someone, especially lost causes. To her, no one or anything is a true lost cause and her stubbornness has been known to prevail over difficult odds.

Roisin spent so much time locked away in Gilneas with the rest of the people that she has become an errant explorer, with an almost unsustainable thirst for knowledge and power. As a warlock she studied everything she could while in Gilneas and often got frustrated at the the lack of variety. Now Roisin divides her time between her own pursuits, and occasionally lending a helping hand in whatever new crisis is taking place. Of course, she makes sure it’s in her best interests before proceeding.

Melantha had a tragic start in life, losing her family to the scourge at a young age and becoming an orphan. The same event awakened her connection to the light, and as an orphan in Stormwind she flourished under the tutelage of the Cathederal of Light. Forever grateful to those who saved her and gave her a home, she is loyal to the Light and has fought with the Argent Dawn and later the Argent Crusade.

The eldest of three sisters, Arasse has always felt the weight of being the first born. Her fascination and connection with animals was kindled by her family’s ram rearing farm, however, unlike her middle sister it was not enough for her. She wanted to know more, see more, learn all about the wonderful and wild creatures of the world. Eventually she left to do so, and has not returned home since. She has many wild adventures, taming creatures of all shapes and sizes and maybe, it’s time for this wild girl to settle down and do something important with her skills.

The middle sister, Thistalee never understood her elder sister, Arasse’s, desire to know more. She was perfectly content learning about rams, looking after them and helping her parents breed the best mounts you could buy. All set to have a quiet life and take over the family business, Thistalee and her family could never have predicted the events of the Cataclysm that tore Azeroth a part. Nor, would they foresee what it would mean for their peaceful daughter. The elements were in chaos, and it awoke a part of Thistalee that she had never known. She could suddenly hear their cries, and almost went insane because of it. Thankfully, the changes in Dwarf society meant that each clan was sharing it’s knowledge and she soon learned the ways of the Shaman.

The youngest sister of Arasse and Thistalee, Ceylaina is completely different to her elder sisters. The baby of the family, she was most certainly spoiled – after all, her family had Thistalee to take over the family business – and as a result Ceylaina grew up to know nothing of rams. Instead she was allowed to do whatever she wanted, dabbling in a bit of everything as she followed her whims. Unsurprisingly she fell in with the wrong crowd and ran away with them. Developing a talent for stealth, thievery and weapons, Ceylaina lives by her own honour code. She’s neither good, nor bad, just practical.

This young Draenei has been inspired by the tales of the great heroes, and is still trying to carve her way in the world. A talent for the light, she wields the light with purpose but has yet to settle of her final path. Whether she finds that she is best at defending the weak, healing the sick or striking down the wicked in retribution remains to be seen.

Well, that was fun and long overdue! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my characters as much as I enjoyed writing about them!

((I used a bunch of different resources to create the image banners for each character. You can find the brushes and textures in my deviant art favourites galleries. Font used is Good Vibes Pro. Screenshots are my own. ))

Whether you’re a gamer, a writer or a roleplayer, names can be an important part of your character creation. Over the years as I’ve graduated from roleplayer to gamer and then onto writer I’ve grown a collection of go to generators and resources for finding names. Here are some of my favourite ones!

Dog Names by Low Chen Australia

Dog Names by Low Chen Australia

Yep, that says dog names, you’re not mistaken. It has an absolutely amazing list of different names, from characters, to mythology to countries. It has so much variety that it makes it great for everything you might need a name for!

Behind the Name

Behind the Name

I love this site and it’s sister site for surnames because of it’s diversity and how easy it is to search or narrow down categories. It has a great selection and has resulted in many of my character’s names over the years!

God Checker.com

God Checker

I absolutely adore this site and use it all the time for naming my World of Warcraft battle pets. It has all the pantheons you can think of and then some – and unlike most mythological lists it doesn’t just list the main/popular deities. It lists them all, big or small, including spirits and other mythological creatures.

Fantasy Name Generators

Fantasy Name Generators

This has been my go to site for Star Wars and World of Warcraft names for years, and it has grown into a huge site with tonnes of generators. There’s pretty much every video game you can imagine, DnD, pop culture, lists of creature names and even one for weapons! This is a must have bookmark for any gamer.

As a part of Arwen-Undomiel.com, this section of the site has a list of male and female English names translated into Elvish. It’s a great way to come up with new character names, especially for fantasy stories and games. Mine, Heather, is Lothiriel 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list and found some useful resources! Do you use name generators? Have any to share? Let me know!

Grabbing one that I missed in May for this week as it’s something I feel pretty strongly about! Cancelled shows is something that really gets me going. As a Brit, I’ve tuned into a new US show and fell in love with it – only to find out half way through that it’s been cancelled. It’s gotten to the point now where I check new shows for cancellation if only 1 season is listed on IMDB. It’s only really been in the last decade that fantasy and supernatural TV Shows have become popular and before that you could guarantee that any geeky TV Show that came about was likely to be cancelled ASAP. I distinctly remember the excitement of hearing about Supernatural when it first came out, and hoping like hell it didn’t get cancelled.

There’s a lot of shows that have ended, that I will always miss, however, this list is reserved for those I feel never really got a shot, had more to tell or left loads of unanswered questions.

Shows I'd like to un-cancel - Primeval: New World

Primeval: New World

… follows a specialized team of animal experts and scientists that investigates the

appearance of temporal anomalies and battles both prehistoric and futuristic creatures.

I was sad to see the original Primeval go, so when it was announced that there was a new one in a new country, with all new characters and Andrew Lee Potts’ character would be popping up – yeah, I was super hyped. I loved Primeval: New World and the characters; the cast was fantastic! But I’ve still not finished the final two episodes. It’s a typical case of ‘I don’t want it to end’ which seems to plague me when it comes to the final episodes and seasons of some shows. I had so many unanswered questions already, and from my experience watching the original Primeval I know the season finale is just going to make me scream with the frustration of never knowing!

Shows I'd like to un-cancel - The Finder

The Finder

An Iraq war vet suffers a brain injury that triggers the ability to see connections

between seemingly unrelated events, objects or people.

This is the only one of this list where I wish I could un-cancel it, but I totally understand why it was cancelled. A spin off from Bones, The Finder had it’s back door pilot in season 6 of Bones. Sadly after filming the first season Michael Clarke Duncan, passed away unexpectedly. He played one of the main characters and was such a big part of the show that no one involved could bare to carry on without him.

Shows I'd like to un-cancel - Marvel's Agent Carter

Marvel’s Agent Carter

In 1946, Peggy Carter is relegated to secretarial duties in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR).

When Howard Stark is accused of treason, he secretly recruits Peggy to clear

his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis.

I’m going to be pissed about this one for a long time to come, and like Primeval, I haven’t been able to finish Agent Carter Season 2 yet. I don’t want it to be over. Peggy is fabulous character who deserved much more screen time than she got. At least we got two seasons; some shows have had far worse odds than that.

Shows I'd like to un-cancel - Shows to Uncancel - Constantine

Constantine

A man struggling with his faith who is haunted by the sins of his past is suddenly

thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

This is probably one of the shows on this list I’m most bitter about. Technically it was sort of un-cancelled and became an animated show with Matt Ryan voicing the character and made by the same people. But let’s be honest; it’s not the same. I’ve not watched the animated show yet, and probably will check it out eventually but I much prefer live action. Sure the show had some bad points, I got a bit lost with the plot at times, and it was a bit slow going. That didn’t stop it still being awesome, and needing answers to things that happened in the finale. I loved Matt Ryan as Constantine, and have loved him as an actor since I saw him in Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour. The crossover with Arrow was bitter-sweet and a highlight of that season for me. I really wish they had given it more of a chance 🙁

Shows I'd like to un-cancel - BBC: Strange

Strange

A defrocked priest’s mission to destroy demons.

And the final one on this list is a fairly unknown British show that I will probably be royally pissed about for a long time. Back in the day when supernatural was far away from being a go to genre for TV shows, Strange popped up with a pilot about demons. The pilot was quite frankly, epic. Mysterious, intrigue, mythology and I was so glad when it got picked up for a full season. And then the BBC messed it up. Not the show; the whole season was great like the pilot. No, there mistake was very simple; they never re-showed the pilot. Many months later when the season began, they decided it would be a great idea to skip the first episode (the pilot) and go straight to episode 2. As you would expect this left everyone extremely confused because all the back-story and how the characters came together was in the pilot. It totally flopped despite how much promise it had because no one had a clue what was going on.

What about you? Which shows do you wish had never been cancelled? Are they 1-2 season wonders or are they longer running shows you just really miss?

From 11th – 17th June I’m taking part in The Geek Blogs Unite June Theme, Ready Player One – Video Games. I’d already decided to do a World of Warcraft post, however, I was convinced by Kayla to do a whole week of posts (ok, it didn’t take much convincing at all…). So instead of one big post I’ll be posting mini posts each day. I decided on World of Warcraft because it is my main game, and I’ve been playing since it’s EU launch. I have a character of every class, and it’s also responsible for me meeting my fiancé, Chris, and many good friends.

Sunday 11th

Introducing my World of Warcraft Characters

I’m going to tell you all about each of my characters, their history, personality and maybe even a few dirty little secrets 😉

Monday 12th

My Favourite World of Warcraft Pets

Anyone who knows me knows I love animals and my fondness for living creatures has transferred to battle pets! I’ve already talked about my favourite pets for battles, so this time I’ll be talking about my favourites in terms of themes and aesthetics!

Tuesday 13th

Transmog Tuesday & My Favourite Raid Tiers

As normal there will be #TransmogTuesday and as a bonus I’ll be telling you what my favourite raid tier is for each class. Boy, that’s gonna be a hard one!

Wednesday 14th

My Favourite World of Warcraft Mounts

There are so many mounts to collect, and I’m over the 250th mark personally. I’ll be whittling down the list to tell you my personal favourites.

Thursday 15th

My Favourite Locations in World of Warcraft

So many different zones, from multiple expansions and I’ll be telling you which ones I love to visit.

Friday 16th

My Favourite Questlines in World of Warcraft

From the epic, to the heartbreaking and with some hilarity in between, here’s my favourite storylines and quests from the game.

Saturday 17th

Why I always report harassment in video games, and why you should too.

The original post I had in mind for this theme; I’m getting on my soapbox and explaining why I always report harassment and prejudice in MMOs and why you should too.

This Weeks Set

Web-Bare

This set came about after I found this screenshot while delving through my gallery in search of one for yesterday’s screenshot challenge.

Watcher's Tunic on my Priest Main back in The Burning Crusade expansion

I loved this chest piece item when I had it back in the days of TBC and was so sad when I had to change it (back then transmog was probably not even a glint in the developers eyes). Ideally, I’d have liked to have mogged it with a skirt/robe bottom and eventually I gave up on that idea and ended up going for sexy with item . The name of this set, http://www.wowhead.com/outfit=72430/web-bare , is courtesy of my fiancé Chris as I had a total brain fog when it came to naming it.

I designed this with a fire mage in mind, but it’s another set that’s not class specific so it can easily be used for any clothies 🙂

May was a total whirl and some of these got posted a bit late due to life and technical issues! But here’s the full months wrap up and June’s prompts for Screenshot Challenge!

Favourite Hero

Wooo it’s the first prompt for May for #justgeekingbysc #screenshotsunday ! As it’s free comic book time I picked favourite hero for today’s prompt.

World of Warcraft, like all games, is filled with heroes and yet one stood out to me straight away. Maybe it’s because I just watched this cinematic the other day, but Anduin was the clear winner of this title for me. We’ve watched Anduin grow up, get kidnapped, find his way and lose his father and thus, becoming King of Stormwind – and leader of the alliance? I’m not 100% sure on that one, but either way he has a heavy mantle on his young shoulders.

I won’t lie; I cried when I watched this cinematic. The whole questline dealt with Anduin’s loss, as well as the loss of his whole Kingdom in terms of the soldiers that perished that day alongside their King. As players we can just res and run back, and we don’t often really think about the amount of losses. There’s been a few examples in the past that have been horrific, but Legion is really pushing the emotional boat out and making it clear just how dire the circumstances.

Anduin is one of the few priests amongst the leaders that I feel I can actually relate to. I love Velen, but lets face it, he’s thousands of years old and a prophet. I love how we’ve been on every step of Anduin’s journey alongside him, like we have our own characters, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him. He has so much power, such an amazing grasp of the light and the world around him. He’s not his father and that’s good, it’s what Azeroth needs.

Cherish

Week 2 #justgeekingsc #screenshotsunday – Cherish. This prompt was inspired by Mothers Day, so all the best to mothers of all kinds today. I couldn’t really find a mother screenshot that also worked for ‘cherish’ so here is some adorable cuteness along with some Cullen hotness from Dragon Age: Inquisition! Treasure is my 2017 word of the year, so cherishing the ones and things I love is something on the forefront of my mind right now. It’s really easy to forget what we have, to get lost in the pain and darkness of every day life. Cherish the good things you have and those you love.

Pastels

Week 3 of #screenshotchallenge #justgeekingbysc and the prompt is pastels. Here is a gorgeous pastel sunset/moonrise I came across in World of Warcraft tonight. The view of the mage city of Dalaran across the sky from Suramar.

Water

The prompt was water, and as one of the primal elements if features in pretty much every game ever and in so many different ways. From pets, to creatures, to gorgeous scenery like this shot from Guild Wars 2.

June’s Prompts!

Screenshot Challenge - June Prompts!

I had some fun with this one! 4th June is National Cheese day and as tempting as it was to pick just ‘cheese’ I went with the more general Food for the first week. It’s the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II and that seemed like a good excuse to ask you to share some Royalty for week two! Week three sees things hotting up as we head towards the Summer Solstice, so Sun seemed like a natural choice for the third week. Rounding off the end of the month is Rainbow to represent June as LGBT Pride month.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading through my wrap up, and would love to see some others joining in! It’s a fun thing for me to do on my own so while I can keep flying solo, I’d love to see what everyone else is doing too! 🙂 As always follow me on instagram to see my posts every Sunday!

Oh wow this was a HARD prompt to narrow down. I pick up a lot of music from tv shows and movies, and every time I thought I had this list completed I’d remember another one! I’m sure I’m missing some major ones, and had to physically stop myself going through my entire music library to check!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVdy8v91Ggk

Fall from Grace

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I love this song, but I cannot listen to it without seeing the end of season 2 scene play out and imagine just how Buffy must have felt. There are no words to describe that pain, and it’s one of those moments when you need to let music do the talking.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFTuim4KR1A

Goodbye to You

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I love Michelle Branch as an artist, and once again Joss and the Buffy team paired up an unbelievably emotional moment with music to express what was happening. The words are so poignant, “Goodbye to you, Goodbye to everything that I knew, You were the one I loved, The one thing that I tried to hold onto” and really capture the difficult decision that Tara has to make to help the one she loves and herself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-ejz2RmueE

Carry on my Wayward Son

Supernatural

I don’t think any Supernatural fan can listen to this song and a) not be reminded of the show and c) not sing along automatically. The band was a bit before my time so I didn’t know them or the song before the show, and I have a very sweet memory of Chris and I bonding when we first got together over this song. We were talking, found out we both loved the show and yeah, the rest is history 😀

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-04HvEXXlfo

Accidentally in Love

Shrek 2

This song just fits so perfectly with that scene in Shrek 2 and I absolutely love the lyrics and sentiments to it. Sometimes love sneaks up on you, and sometimes you’re not looking for it and you end up just giving in to the strawberry ice cream love.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A6YyEFFSsg

My Immortal

Daredevil

I was a fan of Evanescence before watching this film, however, this song wasn’t one of my favourites. It didn’t do anything for me. Then I watched Daredevil and the funeral scene… and was in tears. The words of the song came to life for me and ever since it has had meaning for me.

So as you can see songs that remind me of tv shows and movies usually have a specific moment and place in that show/movie. I don’t really tend to have random songs that remind me of shows very much, unless they have a very specific theme. For example, Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down automatically conjures images of Smallville because you know… kyrptonite. It also reminds me of Supernatural because there’s a line in the song that says ‘dark side of the moon’ and that’s the name of an episode!

What about you? Randomness or poignant moments?

This Weeks Set

Iron (Sha)Man

I totally had no plan for this weeks one to be a bit silly. In fact I had one plan; a mail set. I decided for the first month I’d make my way around the different types each week, and it ended up with mail (unintentionally) being last. I decided to start with a chest piece and came across item and after putting a few more bits together, while browsing for boots I realised that it reminded me of Iron Man’s suit. Ok, so it’s totally the wrong colour but the big glowing circle in the middle gave me the Iron Man vibe. So I went with that for the rest of the suit and had to, of course, use the pun for the set’s name http://www.wowhead.com/outfit=71576/iron-sha-man – however, it isn’t a shaman set. There’s nothing in it that is specifically for a Shaman. So for a hunter you could easily pair it with a nice bow or staff, whatever takes your fancy, rather than the two fist weapons.

So, I have to ask – would you like me to try it in red and gold for a proper Iron (Sha)Man? Or would you like to see more comic book style transmogs? I have no idea if these have even been done before, so if they have please drop me a link!

After the less than inspiring transparency of diamonds last month I was looking forward to the vibrant and lush shades of green that make up May’s birthstone Emerald! Emerald can range from a bright green to a forest green, and even slightly darker. As we’ve got Peridot coming up in a few months (August) I had to be super careful not to overlap so I’ve stuck to deep greens of a cooler shade, forest greens and very few khaki greens. The pinterest board features items and colour palettes that cover all these shades, as well as gold, peach, navy and purple.

The Birthstone series will be exploring the world of birth stones and creating a pinterest mood board filled with style ideas related to that month’s birthstone and related colours. There will be women’s fashion, jewellery, make up, accessories, colour palettes and some home decor items thrown in too. This series will be posted on the third Saturday of every month.

This Weeks Set

The Fire of Retribution

I’m a tad late with this weeks set due to everything going on, and I’m also cheating slightly and using a pre-created set. As you can probably guess from the name this is a Paladin set; http://www.wowhead.com/outfit=34009/the-fire-of-retribution. There’s two items that are from different Paladin Tiers, and personally I prefer it without a head piece so for this set there isn’t an accompanying one. The screenshots from WoWModel Viewer don’t do the animation effects justice, so do check the full outfit out on Wowhead to see the smoky fire!

It’s been a while since I wrote a personal post. I’ve just been doing prompts, linkups and weekly series and getting more and more frustrated with that fact. It’s great to have regular content, however, I’ve had zero energy to actually do anything else. April was just a mess, and while May seemed to begin with a fresh start it has devolved into the same as April. Pain, fatigue, migraines. That’s my daily routine right now and yes, it sucks beyond belief. On top of that I’ve been adding a pile of extra stress, from the important to the mundane, and I’ve realised that I need to stop for a bit.

A Mindful Break

About 4/5 weeks ago I started a mindfulness CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) course. I’ve done a lot of CBT before, but the mindfulness bit is new and is making a big difference.

Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally, to things as they are.

A big part of this is redeveloping my relationship with my body, something I’ve been considering a separate entity with a mind and will of its own for many years now. I’m trying to learn and understand what my body wants and needs by listening to it, and by doing so without judgement. That is why I’m taking this break. Initially for a week, I’m going to listen to what my body wants and do what it needs. That doesn’t mean no blog work entirely; if I want to do it, I’ll do it. But there will be no to do list, no plans, just spontaneous and mindful action. I’ll be posting this weeks #TransmogTuesday because I can delve into my pre-created supply of sets and because I just started this feature. However, yesterday was supposed to be the Birthstone series post and yeah, it just wasn’t going to happen. So I’m planning on a week, with new posts coming next weekend. I’ve also got physio starting this week on top of my MCBT so it seems like a good time to have a light week.

This Weeks Sets

This week I was given two challenges. The first from my friend and guildie, Tccb, who challenged me to make a set around   item – my fiancé then challenged me to make a kobold cosplay using that item. I had an idea for the first one, so I decided to do both!

WoW TCG - Kobold
Image of a Kobold from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game.

Kobold Cosplay

The idea behind this set was what if a character wanted to cosplay as a kobold. Initially I aimed to get items that looked furry to express the kobold’s hairy chin/beard and tuffs of hair. This proved very difficult, so I ended up going with just the general outfit. I found plate items to match the style and colours of the image above, and had to make do with white shoulders instead of fur for the shoulders. The belt is slightly different as it’s really hard/near impossible to find a plate belt with cloth hanging from it (clothies will find this much easier if they want to try it). So I went with item which looked wacky enough that I could see a kobold using it. Full set is viewable on Wowhead.

This is totally safe, right?

This was my first idea when I saw the  item ; a wacky mage (or warlock!) who has absolutely no concept of safety and may be just a tad off their rocker 😛 I went with a crazy headpiece with a fitting name item , as well as interesting/weird sounding items (like item and item ) that had a slightly off the wall appearance. The final piece is, of course, item a lit torch  alongside a stick of dynamite – because this is totally safe, right? Check it out on Wowhead!

What do you think? Did I do the challenge justice? Did you like the idea of a cosplay based transmog set and would you like to see more?

I would love to commission a million different artists for work, but sadly it’s not in my budget just now. So this is a list of awesome artists that accept commissions, and hopefully one day I can request one from them! As usual all copyright and credit goes to these wonderfully talented artists. Please do check out their Patreons and follow them on social media if you like there work.

I also have a pinterest board where I’ll be adding any new artists to, so feel free to follow along to find new and amazing artists!

I think another artist on this list shared Straya’s work at some point and it is so utterly unique that I KNEW that one day I would have to commission something from her. What, I have no idea because as you can see from these examples the scope of her skill is massive.

Today's 10/100 of my #100dayproject is my bff witch babe and art twin and future wife, Briana Mora. Her and I both freelance now (yay!) so I get to annoy the shit out of her again!!!! We met when we used to work at hot topic and I was too shy back then and not aggressive enough to try and be friends with her but luckily she probably noticed and showered me with compliments which broke down my shy barrier. Thank you for being so great to be Bri! . Today's 3/100 #100dayproject is actually a fictional character. I wasn't planning on doing any but it's #ncbd and I just read issue 5 of #MotorCrush! You guys… it is SO GOOD! This is Lola, a mechanic! She holds a special place in my heart now bc her character design is /amazing/ and side note, I almost went to an automotive vocational school! (Weird fact about me I guess? My dad is a mechanic. Oh well!) Anyways, go check out @babsdraws @cameronmstewart and @brendenfletcher'S motorcrush series at your local comic shop! photoshop / MattyDraws pencil brush / Kyle Brushes paintbox glazier #noboringmedia #noboringfam #lianakangas #patreon #illustration #portrait #nerd #comics #girlswholikecomics #comicart #girlboss #creativehappylife #creativepreneur #comicbooks #cintiq #Wacom #photoshop #communityovercompetition #abmlifeiscolorful #risingtidesociety #the100dayproject #100daysofportraits #100daysofportraitslk #imagecomics #motorcrushfanart #motorcrushmonday

Do you have a dream list of artists you would love to commission work from? What would you get them to create for you? Do you have an original character (OC) in mind? Or is there a fanart idea you’d love to see on paper?

Are you an artist that offers commissions? Whether you have slots open right now or not, let me know! I want to check out your work and I’ll be doing another Sharing Saturday in the future featuring artists with open commissions slots!

This weeks prompt was a suggestion by me, and I’m very honoured to have it chosen and of course, I had to do this one! When I suggested it I remember being really excited for it, with loads of ideas… the problem is that I still had TOO many ideas. I could do a top 5 planets list of for several individual planets alone! So I whittled it down to one per fandom, with one exception 😉 Enjoy!

Planets - Star Wars: Coruscant

Coruscant

Picking just one Star Wars planet was difficult. There’s also Naboo, Nal Shada, Alderaan and Korriban that were high on the list. In the end I went with Coruscant, the capital city of the Star Wars universe and centre of the Galaxy. Unlike most planets it is extremely built up, with layers upon layers of buildings and some inhabitants never ever see the sky. Aesthetically it’s not very pleasing to me, but there’s so much culture and tradition there that makes it my first choice.1

Planets - World of Warcraft: Azeroth

Azeroth

Azeroth is probably the planet that I have spent most of my time on (virtually) other than Earth. It’s the main planet in the World of Warcraft universe and with two continents and various islands, it has so much to offer in terms of nature, culture, technology and magic. From the gorgeous scenery, to the ancient cultures and architecture and not to mention magic and fantastical creatures! I could quite happily spend a life time immersing myself in this planet and all it has to offer.2

Argus

This is the fandom double up entry for the week. Sorry, it was just too damn irresistible not to have on the list. Argus is the original planet of the Draenei who were forced to abandon it to the Burning Legion. We are finally getting to visit it in patch 7.5 and I can’t wait! While in previous World of Warcraft expansions I’ve loved exploring new parts of the current world, or those now available to players. However, Legion has definitely been one for going that bit further a field and it’s great!3

Planets - Avatar: Pandora

Pandora

Avatar is not even close to being one of my main fandoms, but oh my goodness – THAT planet. I fell in love with Pandora, it’s beauty, it’s culture and spirituality. While I didn’t mind the story of the film, it was the world itself and the wonderful creatures and design that captured my heart.4

Planets - Doctor Who: Galifrey

Galifrey

The problem with a fandom that spans the whole of time and space is that most planets get a bit lost in the vastness of the universe. I cannot, off the top of my head, name a single other planet for the Doctor Who/Torchwood universe other than Galifrey. Galifrey would have been my ultimate answer anyway because it’s mother fricking Galifrey, home of the time lords and it’s back! I could name plenty of species/races from the show, but planets? Not a clue. I could probably name more time periods than anything else 😛 Why Galifrey? Well, duh. It’s home of the time lords.5

What do you think of my planet list? Do you find that there’s loads for you to choose from or are you not a huge sci fi fan? I only have a few fandoms that are predominantly sci fi and even less that have planets. What’s on your list?

Pale Phantasmal Dawn

This week I challenged myself to put together a white/pale leather transmog set because whenever I flick through the appearances on my demon hunter or druid all I seem to see is shades of brown, purple and green. So many different dark shades, and very few light shades. This set is built around item and features white and gold. It’s all leather and paired with item as a weapon, although I’m sure you can find other fitting equivalents that will work for non-staff users 🙂 It is also non-class specific, and although one version of the legs is a monk only pvp item there are identical versions that are open to all leather users. You can view the full set over on wowhead right here.
